Now that I'm a Mommy.

I  know it's not Mother's Day but being Mommy is like 90% of my life so...

a mommy inspired list.

Now that I'm a mommy:

1. I know the meaning of the word "ouch." (Delivered rugrat #1 with no epidural. Ouch, indeed. Makes me ashamed that I ever used the term before.)
2. I only decorate with items that can't be broken.
3. I have a new appreciation for abstract art and I display it all over my fridge.
4. Exercise and "me time" have to go hand in hand because I have no time for both.
5. I learned I can take a punch to the face. Who knew?
6. I had to buy a steam cleaner.
7. I will sometimes stay up way past my bedtime no matter how tired I am because it's quiet! Ahhh, I love those nights.
8. I went from thinking that I'm a kind, patient person to thinking, "I've really got work on being more kind and patient."
9. I can ignore crying, whining, etc. for hours on end. Doesn't phase me one bit.
10. I get it! I get why everyone says, "It's the toughest job you'll ever love." Wouldn't change a thing about my life or my boys. Just to hear those little voices call me Mommy. What a blessing!

Little Red, Firstborn and me last month on my birthday.
Love, love, LOVE these little guys!
(Even with all the pee on the toilet seat. The joy of boys.)

Also, today was my first speedwork day on the new plan and I loved every second of it.  That's where I get my runner's high.  Going faster than I think my legs will let me. So fun!

When do you get the runner's high?  Or have you never felt it?  I'm curious!

  2. I love this post and can relate to so much of it.

I went to the bathroom on my own today with no
"spectators" today, it was wonderful until I came out of the bathroom and found my 3 year old COVERED in maple syrup from head to toe, right now not so funny maybe in a week or so!

I have experienced runners high at every run i have participated it, it's just something about the experience and the people, the sounds and everyone having a common goal, to cross that finish line :-)

  3. Nice picture of you with your boys. When do I get runner's high? I would say generally after a race. I love the feeling of having given it a strong effort even though I may not have liked it in the middle of the race! I love an earned exhaustion from running or racing. I get a runner's high on a beautiful day running in a spectacular spot. I definitely got a runner's high when I ran past the monuments at the Mall in DC.

  4. Oh so sweet!
My runner's high comes about 1-3 miles into a long run or tempo. Or after speedwork. definitely after.

  5. I can't remember the last time I went to bed on time. Your list is great! And too true.

I get my runner's high a mile or two into a run. I think the feeling after a race is more like euphoria.

  8. This was such a sweet list! I am sitting here sniffling all over my keyboard this morning! Wish I were better at #9 - crying still raises my bp way above the necessary limit. Love the picture!

I have a Runners High usually as I am climbing the last hill to my house when my legs are ready to give out. I love those highs!

  9. That was a great list...I remember those days well...and "SOMETIMES" feel nostalgic and miss my babies (they're all wonderful adults now).

I feel an endorphin kick usually on longer runs...I do believe it's what got me addicted to running :)

  10. Great list! I can totally relate.

I'm the opposite of you. I usually feel the runner's high when I am going much slower than I'd like to ... it always seems to come on recovery runs!

  11. awww :) that picture of the three of you is so sweet!
I have gotten runner's high... and most likely the reason I keep running! It doesn't happen on every run of course, but when it does; it's usually about 2 miles in, my breathing and body just completely are in sync, and all of a sudden it's like I can run forever and ever and ever :) ahhhh

  14. Had to laugh at your comment on my blog. Just for the record, there will be no "Lisa Fights...Wait, What?" blog.

Although I do kid my 13 year old son about taking him down in the octogon lol. He's bigger than me so I don't think I could take him although I like for him to think that I could :)
